It's been a few months since I've been able to make any pens. Here's the first one to get the juices flowing!

Thanks!

Very cool. I have never turned any antler. I do have a blank from a water buffalo that I've had for years, but I've never turned it. I've heard that horn is very susceptible to cracking. - Dave

Dumb question, is it solid or hollow on the inside?

Angler can differ depending on the species. Elk can be more marrow with thin outer edges where whitetail will be a bit thicker with the white outer edge and less marrow depending on where on t he rack the blank is cut. Axis and fallow are more solid for turning small if you want that ivory look.

I like the look of elk and think your pen turned out great.. It tends to be more red and purple in the marrow, it just doesn't have much thickness on your outer white .
