Hello again!
In contrast to the amboyna fountain pen in my last post, I made this ballpoint pen quick and dirty as an accompaniment. It's my first kitless ballpoint and was a lot of fun to figure out the order of operations. I like how the style can put to use small off-cuts. I have to admit, I didn't put as much care into the polishing of the body as I think I should have (evidenced by the fine scratches the lighting enhances like crazy), but in-person it's not so bad. The metal bits on this one are just raw brass. No plating this time. I figure this might get handled a lot more than the fancy fountain pen and the plating would be short-lived. This operates by twisting the finial. I really wish I could have gotten an extra 0.5mm stick-out of the ballpoint tip, but it's functional as is, so I'm happy. I'll figure it out on the next one.
Some selected specs...
Length: 5.5"
Diameter: 12mm
Body Material: Japanese Ebonite
Finial Material: Amboyna
