Yup that's right---with nothing more than the wife as a cheerleader and a handfull of tools--- I spent the whole afternoon working on my 1970 Ford truck. So much fun it was unreal---I had (Key Word) a exhaust manifold gasket leaking so bad that I no longer could drive the truck. This ain't the whimpey donut gasket-- this was the one between the head and exhaust manifold. It really is only 8 bolts and two nuts for the tail pipe.
I figure my hands should heal in about a week from all the cuts and knuckle bashing that goes with a job like this-- But I had fun.
So while you sat at your desk today-----I had fun.

Hhhmmm... your idea of fun and my idea of fun obviously are quite different. Now I can think of fun things I'd rather do than sit at my desk all day, but I would choose that over this! [:D] That being said, I'm glad you had fun!!

I so envy you....but looking at my knuckles w/o bruises...I feel much better [:D][}:)]

So is the truck fixed? Or you just had fun LOL [:p] [;)]

I have owned this truck so long she is a family memeber---plus it would cost a fortune to buy a better truck---heck I ain't sure there is such a thing. She's a 3/4 camper special with a set of one ton overloads---360 with a C-6 behind her.
I am going to toss in a new set of plugs while I am having so much fun. The new exhaust manifold gasket is installed---I still need to hook up the exhaust system---going to run into town in the morning and get the plugs. Also going to change the oil and filter just for a little more fun.
If this works out right---she will be good for another couple of years. She only has 59k orginal miles on her.
Oh Angie-----this type of work---you do yourself or forget it. It would cost a arm and leg to have this work done in a shop---if you could find someone to do the job. So I really did not have a choice in the matter.

Fun huh?

Better you than me.... one mans poison and all that...[:D]

I worked on cars for a living for 14 years and now I can hardly stand to change the oil on my own vehicles.[xx(]

But of course those older models were easier to work on than they are now, that's for darn sure.[^]

I gave up my VW's because I used to get so mad when I was working on them, well one of them anyway. Thats when I realized that woodturning was a lot better for my soul.
But hey, whatever floats your boat [;)]

I was kinda proud that No BAD words where used yesterday.
This really on heck of a nasty job because of the rust and carbon build up on the bolts.
Oh Eric---I agree with you---if I was going to be sitting on a plane that long, I would hope it was headed overseas---France is real nice this time of year.
