If you're looking for Sterling, consider using Argentium Sterling when available rather than traditional Sterling. Argentium Sterling is virtually tarnish free. My wife started using Argentium exclusively since the first of the year and will not purchase traditional sterling unless it is a last resort.

Thanks Rick for the link, what's realy Argentium Sterling ? I'm looking at the surgical wire with gold plating do you think is better or not compared to Argentium Sterling.

John thanks for the help but I think Spotlight will not beat the price.

Serge,

Argentium Sterling is 92.5% silver in order to be legally classified as Sterling with a very small portion of the copper being replaced with germanium to achieve the 'virtually tarnish free' effect. I seem to remember that the upcharge for Argentium being only about 10%. We have not polished silver since the switch; and believe me, polishing sterling chain maille can be a pain. Here's probably more info than anyone can digest in a while.

I know Kathleen uses the surgical wire on rare occasions when severe allergies prevent using sterling. Just remember that the gold plating is probably less durable than the plating on our 24kt pen kits because it has no protective coating.
