Ear gauges

I was asked to make something the other day that took me by surprise, ear gauges. 16mm or 5/8 ear gauges to be exact. They are a type of ear ring for those that have the large piercing hole in the ear. Apparently they come in different sizes. This was a first for me so I did a little research to get the measurements and used a couple of pen blanks that I had cast a while back. Now I'm just waiting feedback from the customer to see how I did.

I made a set for my sister's friend out of scrap B&W ebony. I haven't heard how they fit, but I have the suspicion I made my width a little too small.

Yours look pretty good and have plenty of lip to keep them seated in the lobe.

I think the best way to judge your product is to try it yourself. That way you know exactly the pluses and minuses. If you do decide to try that please post pictures. Just joking not judging.

While my ears are pierced, I will not be advancing the hole any larger than the pin hole it currently is..., BUT it would be fun (I think) to make some of these for others.

Ear tunnels. I read that the RoT was to increase size 1mm per month unless pain increased to undesireable levels.

It hurts to just think about that.
