I am looking for a supplier of turning stock of Dymondwood or colorply wood. I used to get it through Hut Products but they do not carry the black on black any more. It has to be at least 2" by 2" by ???? long. Anyone with a lead??? Thanks

John,

Unless they have changed the formulation, ColorWood is very different from Diamondwood. Get samples before you order them, interchangeably.

I always bought from Hut, too, so I can't help you there.

FWIW,
Ed

My local Woodcraft has colorply/spectreply I believe, I bought 2 2"x2"x12 blocks multi color ones in the last couple of weeks. You can check their web site. They had 4 or 5 assorted color combinations.

I have a place that is in Wisconsin that is a manufacturer of that type of product. I will see if I can find them later tonight when I'm near a PC

You are probably thinking of River Ridge, Dean.

They do not manufacture, they DO stabilize and they ARE a source for Diamondwood. There is a big difference between Diamondwood and all other "imitators" that I have used. (This is NOT to say I have used ALL possibilities---but I tried most when I was making k-scopes).

I am pretty sure it was called colorwood. I looked on Huts web site and do not see it. This material had a plastic coating on it in the laminates. I used this alot for watch bands that I make. It sands and polishes to a nice shine. I have to see if I can find an old catalog. I have a few customers wanting this material on a watch. I ran out a few years ago and never reordered. Shame on me. I can post a photo of the material I am seeking just not in black.

Here is a photo on the watches. There is the black on black and also a green on green of the same material.

Hmmm... Yup Ed was right. My memory was mixing products. They make a line of stabilized, but stock dymondwood. I have used both and forgot which they made vs sell. Sorry I can't help because that's not the stuff you are looking for!

Dymondwood

John, the company that makes dymondwood and colorwood it Rutland Plywood. I think you can find a local distributer on their web site or you can order directly from them. They have a minimum order though.

Colorply from Brookside Veneers

Brookside Veneers COLORPLY

They may not have much, when I bought my stock of wood they were nearly out of those colors I wanted and got the last of it. I was told they were phasing out the colorply so I cant say what they have. It's different from Dymondwood, which is straight layered, in that the colors interweave. You can see that from the gallery pictures.
