Well after an hour riding around lost on Beltway 8 in Houston I finally found a Woodcraft and picked up that lathe. At a great price of 1799.00 I couldn't pass it up.
Thanks to everyone who has given me their thoughts on the lathe. Not one person had any negative thing to say about it.
On another note I stopped at a Woodcraft in Houston on FM1960 road and they were out of lathes. He said he sold 7 of them and that he could backorder one for me for the same price. Not sure if that was true or not cause they only had 2 mini Jets on the floor and not another lathe on display.
One of the employees said I should check at the other Woodcraft on Sam Houston Parkway. Another employee standing there said he'd look up the inventory of the store to see if it was available and when he did he said there were none in either Texas store.
I said I really wanted that lathe and asked him to check inventory on the lathe in Mobile, Al and he hesitated for awhile and said let me check the other Houston store again and sure enough he said they had one left in stock and gave me the address.
I'm wondering if he was just giving me the run around until I told him I would be travelling to Mobile at the end of the week to purchase one. He may have not wanted his competition in Houston to sell the lathe cause he wanted to order it for me instead. I guess he decided that it would be better for one of the Texas stores to make the sale than a Woodcraft in another state.
