Let me know if I shouldn't post pencils here. I'm pretty sure the one on the left is olive wood.
Thanks! It is "Show off your Pens!". I didn't know how pedantic people would get so wanted to give folks the benefit of the doubtthere's no reason why you couldn't post these.
They're good kits based on first impressions. Easy to assemble. I'm scoring a dive meet this weekend so I'll have an excuse to use themVery nice, I have a couple of these kits, gotta make me a pencil or two.
I appreciate the kind words. No idea what kind of wood it is. Was in a box of blanks I picked up from somewhere. Both look wonderful to me. The Olive wood speaks for itself for it's grain , but I will come to the defense of the 'plain grain blank (maybe walnut or a darker mahogany). I really like/love wood; plain grain timbers don't bother me in the least - I appreciate the colors. So, your plain grain pen is great in my opinion. A burl - nope; an exotic - nope; beautiful for what it has to offer - priceless.
Same. Old rotring pencils or my newer pentel graph gear with the knurling. The pens have a really nice weight to them. The pencils seem lighterVery Nice. I really like those DuraClick kits. They remind me of some of the engineering mechanical pencils that we used where I worked. - Dave
Thanks!Very nice pencils!
Well, it is the International Association of Penturners but I believe we all make the occasional pencil. It's really about posting your work. Thanks! It is "Show off your Pens!". I didn't know how pedantic people would get so wanted to give folks the benefit of the doubt
I know. My comment was mostly tongue in cheek but the little bit of humor I have gets lost in translation to text.Well, it is the International Association of Penturners but I believe we all make the occasional pencil. It's really about posting your work.

Some communities I'm a part of take this kind of thing very seriously to the point where 10% of the posting is asking about where to post.
I do appreciate all the support I've been getting as a noob!
