Buy one from Paul. I hope to get mine today, but from everyone else's experience it's amazing. The prolem I had with the one form Craft Supply was that it didn't open up big enough for my bottle stopper blanks. Also I found it to bend under pressure when I brought the drill press down.

Mike,
I don't want to sound redundant, but Paul's vise is worth every penny. I love being able to pull the blank out the front, so I don't have to keep playing with the height of the press. His work is absolutely awesome.

Mike,
Save yourself the time and expense of going thru several models only to find out that you are still not happy. Get the PH vice as the above wisdom indicates and that way you will get it right to start with unlike the rest of us have done [;)][:D]

I have the Craft Supplies vice and when you get it everything works great. But after you start to use it over the course of time you start to notice that it doesn't always do such a great job. Sure, if you want to make a hole it works, but after time it looses its accuracy. Now, when I'm drilling harder woods wnd I pull the bit back out the clams that hold the wood pull up. All I can think is what is that doing to the inside of my blank, reaming out the hole a little bigger is the answer.

What everybody has said ... especially Chris. Wish I would have asked your question before I bought that miserable piece of junk from WC. What did I finally end up with? You got it! The PHD Vise.

Mike theirs a guy in OKC named Paul that just might be able to help you out.All kidding aside today I drilled 4 antlers for cigar pens and this vise is just to good to be true they were perfect.

Mike - I've had my PHD vise nearly 2 years now and it still is as accurate as the day I got it. I recently made the rather LARGE [:D] investment of not just one, but TWO drill press clamps at about $2.50 each from HF. They make it SO much easier to remove the vise on those rare occasions when I'm not drilling blanks:

Hate to break the chain of conformity here, but I am too cheap to spend that kind of money on a pen vise. I built my own that works great.
