I was just informed today that my drill press will cost $200 + to repair, so I will be replacing it instead. Does anybody have any suggestions for a 16 - 17" Drill Press?

I can't afford to buy all the bells and whistles but I want to get one that I won't have to replace for a really long time. I would really like to kep the cost under $500. Thanks in advance for your comments.

I use it for a few different things otherwise I would just use my lathe. As for the current one the old farmer that had it before me must have used it really hard because the cast head is worn 10 thou around the quill. Just goes to show that a deal at auction (even when you know the seller) may not be all that great a deal.

It is still usable but not for any precision work. Apparently the only fix is replacing the head, so replacing is easier and better in the long run.
