What are the best drill bits for drilling metals such as bronze, aluminum, and brass??? I read someone used cobalt bits. If this is the ones where can you get them reasonably??? Thanks.
For the softer metals any kind of HSS bits will work , drill slow and clear the bit often . For harder metals like Stainless and Titanium , Colbalt or carbide tipped will work better and last longer .
HSS for the metals mentioned. If you want accuracy and aren't doing any deep drilling get the "screw machine" length. They're shorter than the "jobber" length and won't wobble as much. I like the silver "bright" finish.
Do yourself a favor and don't buy drill bits from HF. Bits are one of the things that you need to spend a little more for. Try Enco and get the American made ones. I have the large set from Cleveland Twist Drill and it will last me a lifetime!
