okay, now that I have a few more minutes.

This is the worst material I have ever worked with. Sensitive to the chemicals in PR. Sensitive to too much heat while casting. Sensitive to just about everything. This stuff is more temperamental than a mule with attitude.

But, after about a year of playing with it on and off, I think I've worked the kinks out and I can now give you.......

PRISM FX

The blank is a uniform color (purple in this case) and the squiggles of color you see are actually prism flashes. Get your cameras ready cause its going to be a major challenge to get a good shot of these for the web. Stunning in person.

turning it this week I hope (if my wifey lets me). Its tube for a Jr II series and I have a Black Ti Jr Gent II that I think will do it justice. And then trying my best to get a decent shot of it (may need to try video).

Then, I start casting more in the next week or two. I'm on vacation the week after the 4th so (crosses fingers) I hope to get a lot of casting done.

Please share on how you worked the kinks out. I been playing around with this stuff also. Looks good until about half way through the curing process. Got a small box full of "what the heck" blanks.

Give me a call. I don't mind chatting with someone that knows my pains.

Okay, a couple crappy pics that don't do it any justice.

Pen is a Black Ti Jr Gent II XL (uses panache tubes for a little extra length).

Looks like a lot of color to that blank. How high was the pucker factor while turning?

It wasn't that bad. This is a clear cast so all the color and effect is on the tubes. Since I got it to survive the casting process, I was pretty sure I could get a nice pen out of it.

The only question was could I get the final surface back to a glass-like finish. Its been a while since I turned a pen.

I brought it to work with me this morning and dropped a G2 refill in it, needed a spacer for the extra length and the plastic threads off of a cross refill filled the gap perfectly.

I am noticing that when the lighting isn't great, its a nice Purple pen. But every once in a while you get this cry for attention as the Prism effect goes crazy. It's shaded in my office right now, so I want to see what happens in the full sun.
