Okay. Nothing personal. But I've avoided them with a passion. Now that the LA Pen Show is underway and I've got a table for the event, I've got a tooth abcess and need to have it pulled.

It's been so very long! I don't even know how long it takes. But it ain't gonna be pretty.

All these pens I've got and they're "shelved." I never even made it to the hotel!

Sue,
I know how much this show means to you!
I hope that you can make it.
Do what you have to do. Take care of yourself first.

just had one pulled/extracted/cut out (and while there they also took out the impacted wisdom tooth). The dentist, said you look nervous when he walked in. I said "I HATE DENTIST, I can't Relax, I don't want to be here". He gave me 2 Valium to take 1 hour before my appointment, the assistant gave me nitrous before he I even saw the dentist on surgery day, by the time I saw the dentist, I could care less. one of the best experiences I've had in a dental chair.

If you have an abscessed tooth, likely they'll want to clear up some of the infection before they pull it.... that's been my experience anyway... They'll give you something to work on that and maybe you can do the show while the infection is clearing up...

Grab some pliers, pull it out and deal with it after the show. Business before pleasure. Hope you feel better and don't hate your dentist, he is the one that is going to help you. You should hate a rock, they do nothing helpful.

Sure they do when ya toss one!!!!
Now a politicion thats a different story!

ouch. Been there, done that. Teeth are one of God's great design flaws. Chuck's right about the abscess -- get the infection cleared out before the pulling or root canal-ing begins. Remember that your dentist is a better friend than your drill press!

Feel better soon.

I'm not a dentist and all I know for sure about teeth is that I have them. I do have to ask, how can you need a root canal after a tooth is pulled? I had an abcess tooth not too long ago. I took drugs for a few weeks and the drugs did not get rid of the infection, so the dentist just pulled that infected tooth out. Now the tooth is gone, and now that it is gone, there is no nerve left there to drill out. A root canal is drilling out the nerve inside the tooth and then filling it back in with something..is it not? I think once a tooth is gone, infected or not, you will no longer have any issues there once the hole heals up.

Yup, Chuck's right. I got an antibiotic to take "for the weekend." They will have to schedule me for surgery after the Show. (Whew!)

I'll be leaving for LA Pen show in the morning. It took me back a bit when the dentist asked when I had my last tooth pulled. 40 years ago!

Anf FYI . . . I really like my drill press!
