Minding my own business last night. My bottle of Titebond CA accelerator was empty. Poured some EZ Bond accelerator (from Manny ) into the empty bottle.

Came back an hour later. The Titebond bottle had softened, and failed leaving a dried up puddle on the bench. Nothing harmed ('cept the bottle).

No one harmed all good have :coffee:and . Now talking about Accelerator has any one made up there own or used anything else that works, to buy accelerator in Australia it's $25 bucks a small spray pack can l think it's a bl---y rip off here.:frown::mad:

John,

Water will accelerate CA. But I don't know if it will turn it cloudy. TEst first.

Eagle said smoke accelerated as well - I don't smoke, never tried.

(putting on my Cliff Clavin hat....)

It's a little known fact that CA glue was actually designed to cure with water.

This, as nobody but we Clavins knows, is why it's all but impossible to glue the handle back on a teacup with CA: It's bone-dry in there. Moisten the ceramic/china/whatever a bit and try the CA again: ZAP!

My good sweet goodness, but I'm babbling.

Anyway, one way to cure CA is to exhale on it... Make sure your beak is moist and also make sure that you don't get too close... Nothing like gettin' yer lower lip stuck to a blank spinning at 600RPM: I hear it's a lot like childbirth :D

Cheers!

Gary

Gary, you're crackin' me up. "A lot like childbirth." To be on the safe side, you may want a facial equivalent of an epidural before exhaling on the spinning blank.:doctor:

I'd love to take full credit, but I must admit that I was inspired by an old Bill Cosby routine... He was in the delivery room with his wife when she "stood straight up in the stirrups, grabbed my bottom lip, and pulled it over my head...." :)

He kills me!

Cheers,

Gary

LOL I've done this was like a shrinky dink...... And it's from Mannie....not Manny

Some CA accelerators are acetone based. I do not know if pure acetone would work, but may be worth a shot.

BLO will also accelerate the cure rate of CA.

Not to mention that you had better take the big inhale before you stick your face down close. That way you will be able to scream louder for help when.........

Thought I had responded here but guess not....anyway

Not all accelerators are created equal. I have two kinds, the regular, and a mild accelerator. The mild is used by model makers and will not melt the styrene plastics used in model making, the regular will melt the styrene. If you want to use the regular accelerator in a smaller bottle, look on the bottom of the 8oz bottle at the recycle code. As long as the codes match, it is a compatible bottle.
If you are transferring the accelerator from the 8oz bottle to a spray bottle, I would suggest this one (or similar) from Harbor Freight - http://search.harborfreight.com/cpis...+can&Submit=Go
It is a refillable, metal can you can pressurize with your compressor or even a bicycle tire pump. I have one and love it. I use the nozzle that give the finest spray.

Actually after my shrinky dink bottole incident Mannie pointed me in this direction. I love the HF pressurized can. It works great

Gary; I have some of Cosby's original LP's of his routines. LP =vinyl record for all the internet babies out there!

I particularly like the line, "The pain hit and she told everybody in the delivery room that my parents were never married!"

Tom; I often put things in smaller bottles for ease of use around the lathe. DNA, Acetone, Finishes, the list goes on. The first time I put something in a plastic bottle, I sit it in an empty metal soup can. If the bottle gets eaten by the solvents, no harm done, I just throw out the whole thing. After a few days, I discard the can.

PS. A small can with some loose pennies in the bottom will hold a CA bottle upright and keep it from tipping over or getting knocked over.

You got one with the $75 car on it? My dad had 3 or 4 LP's when I was a kid. Used to listen to them over and over.
