I was fortunate in that my schedule allowed me to take a turning class put on by Donald Derry. Don has a small form hollowing system-actually two of them. One for Christmas ornaments and small hollow forms, and a larger system for well, larger hollow forms. When I first saw a hollow form, I thought there was NO way I could attempt one. However, IF you ever get a chance-GO! He is an excellent teacher and I can't begin to describe how much I learned today and not only in turning skills but form as well. Everyone turned a hollow form Christmas ornament-with finial! This includes one lady who is very new to turning-her gouges were still in the package! I am taking my class at Canyon Studios and I can't begin to describe what an awesome facility Gene has in place.
