Does this look like a $200+ pen?

I've seen a lot uglier for a lot more. just goes to show you that sometimes name is everything. Faber Castelle pens are almost never cheap

I see the pen, but what right do I have to criticize that pen or it's price? I have a few pens beyond that price range and do I want someone to tell me I'm nuts? To paraphrase Ed...if you ask $100 you won't get $500...a thought that made a lot of sense to me. I don't haggle my artwork or my pens, and if someone doesn't like the price...just move on.

It's not that I don't think x pen is worth $200. It's that it's poorly made. Look near the nib. I'm talking about the quality, not the design. Sorry I wasn't clear.

Don, I think it's the design of the pen, it's supposed to look like it was under turned, it's actually the way the grip is shaped, Faber Castelle has some odd looking pens. but their quality is legendary.

Count Anton Wolfgang von Faber-Castell visited Fahrney's Pen Shop in 2006 where I had the pleasure of meeting the Count. He was introducing the new Walden Wood commemorative pen. It's craftsmanship was excellent, as has been every Faber-Castell I have ever seen. As far as I know, Faber-Castell is the only company who makes a new wood fountain pen each year.

Perhaps the photographer has not captured the pen accurately or perhaps the conversion to JPEG format or even the reduction in DPI has caused a degraded appearance. In any case, I find that Faber-Castell pens are definitely worth the price...even the ones which are not aesthetically appealing to me.

Ken, that's exactly what I was talking about. You are saying it's intentional? I guess I'd have to hold one.. Because in the pic it looks like it ruined an otherwise attractive design.

I like the style of the clip but that's about all. No way would I fork over that kind of money on that pen.

How much it is worth depends upon who is looking at it!!

I'll bet they will sell a bunch of them so I guess they "ARE" worth it.

Perhaps the question you should have asked is, "Would you pay $200+ for this pen?"

And since the pen shown was the fountain pen, you should have asked, "Would you pay $400 for this pen?"

I assume you are talking about the fact that the barrel material appears to be way proud of the section on the fountain pen and the tip of the rollerball?. Certainly, they are capable of getting the barrel flush if they desired it to be so as evidenced by the picture of the ballpoint which looks just fine.

I've been wrong before.....at least, I think I was, once.....but I'll hazard a guess that when the cap is on the working end of the pen, that the barrel is perfectly flush with the metal decorative band on the cap.

What do you think??

Idea

Right on. It gives me an idea.

Could you put a link to several of the web sites that sell up scale pens for $300 plus on your own site to show your customers the true value proposition you are offering or would you need to get permission to put a link.

That way customers could see what they are getting compared to what else is out there.

Any thoughts.
