I recently learned that PR casting will only be a late spring to early fall activity for me, as my shop is my attached garage...and the house STINKS of PR when I use it with the garage door shut.

What does Alumilite smell like when casting? Will it keep me from getting kicked out of the house this winter?

The Clear has no odor that I can pick up. When they were having issues w/ the clear and I had to use the Water Clear it had an odor but no where near that of PR.

I agree, if you buy 10 gallons it does work out and I know a number of folks that have gone that route. Just alot of resin to use if you're not heavily into casting.

Mike B (gone thru 6 gallons myself since Jan)...

My marriage is saved!

If she controls the purse strings you still have issues though, it's alot more expensive...

But, if you drop a wad on the 10 gallon kit it comes to about $60 a gallon which is not much more than PR......

$60/gallon is a bit more expensive than PR...For PR I pay about $220 for 5 gallons shipped (about $44/gallon delivered). I doubt that I can justify $600 + shipping in one blow...

No, she doesn't control the purse strings for the pen turning--it pays for itself, especially now that I've started making and selling blanks. It isn't enough to make a lot of money, but it *does* keep me out of trouble with her!

Make sure to read the MSDS info, most of the Alumilite safety sheets have said to use it in well ventilated areas. Just because you cannot smell it, doesn't mean you can safely breathe it.
