Below is a couple pictures of my new(to me) dodge truck. My wife and I went out looking for a new truck and liked this used one better than all the new ones they had.

Below is a picture of the rear of the truck but you can't see much of it because of all that cherry burl and a couple pieces of maple burl. I will post another picture of it when I get rid of that nasty old wood. :D[}:)];)

Nice lookin truck Tom and good load. [:)]
But why would you take the wood from behind your house and put it in the truck ? [:D]
It looks like your not hurting for trees in your area.

Tom,
Am I seeing the tailgate right? Are there built in drink holders on the right and left of it? WOW what a great feature.[;)]

Thanks for the comments about the truck and next time I won't have wood in it so you can see it better. [:D]

Ron they do look like cup holders, don't they? Actually they are about the size of a gallon and quart can.

Anthony, there is no cherry back there, just some ash, hickory, walnut, maple, and a couple others.

I anchor sealed it as I took it off and stacked it, but it was already starting to check. It had been cut about an hour and checking already.

Nice looking Dodge. I have been a Dodge fan for many years, until last month. The differential simply self-destructed. Replacement with new parts, $5,000.00. We had to find a used rear end from a salvage yard. Still $1500.00 for the total cost. The tow truck driver told me mine was the third in six months he had pulled with the same problem. And we live in a fairly rural area with low population so three for one driver in six months seems like a gigantic statistical sampling. I'm now considering switching to Fords. What happened just shouldn't happen. The service manager said that the differential fluid should be changed about every 15-20 thousand miles, at a cost of about $100.00. Same with tranny or it will self-destruct also.

Nice! I'm a Dodge man myself. I have a '91 Dakota now - been a pretty good ride. I did have to have the trans rebuilt around 70K (overdrive actually, but it contaminated the whole works as it was going out). But considering I'm not the most conscientious about maintenance, I'm not complaining.

Frank, sorry to hear about your experiences. That's strange. Heck, I've never even CHECKED the fluid in my rear diff. Did the front a few years ago. They may check it when I get the oil changed - supposed to do some sort of fluid checks. Usually do most of my own work, but that thing's a pain to get to the filter. [xx(]

Had some bad experiences with Ford (the vehicle, the dealer, AND corporate when we tried to complain about the dealer) and swore them off for good. If I didn't get a Dodge, I'd probably go with a Chevy. Toyota probably OK too. What I don't get is that strange Honda truck getting "Truck of the Year" from Motor Trend. It's probably an OK vehicle, but that dinky little 5' bed seems little better than pointless. It's sized to fit a couple of mountain bikes apparently. For me, if it isn't an 8' bed, it isn't a truck! And yes, my Dakota has an 8 footer - I was getting some drywall at Home Depot last year and the guy loading said it wouldn't fit. I told him it was 8' and he disagreed! I've only owned that truck since 10/90 - I think I know what size the bed is now! [;)]

I guess I've been lucky because I have had no real problems with any of my trucks, I had to rebuild a 79 390ci Ford engine because I wore it out. I had two El Caminos that were junk, but I don't consider them trucks, and I had a couple of street machine trucks. Before I got this I had a 91 Dakota that was in good shape. It took me two years to talk myself into buying another truck because there was nothing wrong with the Dakota.

Truck brands are a love/hate thing with Americans. I prefer to stick with American brands. Yeh, I know, I know, Dodge/Chrysler is now German but I choose to continue with the delusion. My "American/German" Dodge was even made in Mexico. Oh, well. My last Dodge ran for 23 years and over 500,000 miles. But, must confess, by the time I got rid of it, the only things on it that were original were the power steering pump and sheet metal. Three trannys, three rear ends, two engines, etc, etc. Great power steering pump. [:)]

WOW!!!! That wouldn't get me to work and back.....[:0][:0][B)][;)]
