I'd be interested whether anyone makes their own wooden pen boxes, both singles and/or doubles. If so, would you mind posting a picture, with some pertinent measurements.

I haven't yet but when I do, I will use the method that Øistein uses here. Very simple and easy to use.
Hi Rob; Yeah, thanks! I should have mentioned that one. I have had some discussion with Øistein regarding it. A very simple, great looking, and functional pen box.

I was just looking for any other designs that were out there.

I've made some pen boxes using mini barrel hinges. There are a couple of tricks to making them, but once you get them figured out they are not difficult. The dimensions are 2 1/2" x 6 1/2" x 1 1/4". If you need any advice feel free to PM me.

I don't think that many of us make their own boxes. There are many for sale and I think the ones from Arizona Silhouette with the fitted inserts are the best bang for the buck. I have found that pens rattle a lot in plain wooden boxes and over time may have a negative influence on the finish. Often a larger pen does not fit in the plain wooden boxes.
Making you own takes quite some time, and I would make a case only for a special occasion. Both boxes shown here are nice, but making them for all the pens I sell would be impossible. I also found that most people are not interested to purchase a box - I sell maybe a box per show. I give away for free (already incorporated in the final price:tongue:) one of the cardboard boxes.

Rudy, you are correct. There is no way that I could make a box for less than I could buy one at one of the major vendors.

My main motivation in making them was to have the ability to make a pen box that matched a particular pen.
