I'm sorta lost in a sea of catalog and website data and need some advice.

I started out turning pens and bottle stoppers with a Jet mini lathe and bought the little Nova G3 chuck with a few different jaws.

In anticipation of one day turning some larger items, bowls, vases, etc, I recently purchased a Jet 1642EVS lathe which has a 1 1/4" spindle.

Now that I have a garage full of mesquite logs, I'm really wanting to start turning some bowls.

My question; Before buying the spindle adapter allowing the little G3 chuck to work on the larger lathe, is this chuck suitable for holding larger items (12" - 15" bowls for an example) on the larger lathe or would I be better off buying a larger chuck such as the One Way Talon or the Tekonsha Titan?

Reading Woodcrafts info on the NovaG3 it's supposed to handle up to a 14" swing....I'd buy the adapter and also buy a bigger chuck if you can afford it. Never can have to many chucks [;)]
