Was camping in Joshua tree yesterday and decided to stop at a few antique stores on the way home.

Found this little gem. As soon a picked it up I knew.
Don't usually see them this large when I do find any at all.
Almost don't want to cut it up.

Yeah I almost want to start collecting these more than I want to turn them. It's kind of fun hunting for them. I found 2 other pieces while I was hunting but they were pretty small.

What is that made of?

a friend in work has an unbelievable carving of a horse in wood, don't know what type but the detail in the carving was unreal

The wood is desert ironwood

And I think it is from a very old tree due to size and depth
