Saw this once on a real official looking letter head from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.
It has been determined that the dimmer switch mounted on the steering column of vehicles is a safety hazard, and all vehicles made with the column mounted switch will have to be retro fitted to the old style foot switch.
After extensive testing and research of both switches, it has been determined that the foot switch is safer, because it was found that too many Aggies were getting their foot caught in the steering wheel.
Thank you, and we appologize for the inconvenience,
OK DoT.
