Digital RPM meter

Does anyone know of a digital rpm meter. One that could be used to determine spindle speeds on a V/S lathe with out a readout

you can find these at McMaster Carr.
Search for tachometer. I used to use one at work. They are not inexpensive, they are dead on accurate though. The models I am speaking of are hand held.

Yea I am sure they are out there, I have used the old manual kind that just has a wheel to spin on the shaft. Just keep in mind, the RPM is relative to where you are testing it. You want to be as close to the center as you can. The bade shaft on a pen mandrel will be pretty close.

Look on ebay for Digital Laser Tachometer. This is what the guys on the mini metal lathe sites recommend.
