The picture here of Ol' Leaky was taken about 8:30 this morning after we cleaned out the drive the first time. I'll be heading out again in the next hour or so to do it again.

Wow, Ol' Leaky sure brings back some awesome memories. When 14-16 years old, I worked on a farm next door to us, and we had a '40 Ford that we used to do just about everything.

I made a ton of good memories on that thing, cruising around the farm with my dog running next to me; before I had my driver's license I was king of the world on that thing. Great machines, I bet that old one is still running strong. The owner had made some sort of steering modifications that allowed it to turn so tight that if you cranked it over hard enough you could go back in time a little bit! That is, if you could manage to not snap a tire off. heh...I put a few rub marks in those front tires, I tell ya. I wouldn't trade those years for anything.

Good times! :)

Glad to see you made it home, Tony!!!

About 15" here, next to Lake Michigan. And falling at about 1.5" an hour -predicting 3 more hours. Expected to let up about 8 pm. Just got back from the post office (You're welcome, those who needed blanks shipped today). Every so often it feels REAL secure being in a Durango. Said on the radio we should avoid a stretch of road where a county snowplow was "flipped over". (Sounded like good advice to me, so I did avoid it!!)

So, Tony, you go plow. When I get home, I will pull the Durango into the driveway, go back and forth a half dozen times and call it "plowed". It actually only has ruts, but allows ME to get in and out. This is no weather for visiting.

Next time you hear, "It could be worse" remember the next part of that is, "You could live in Wisconsin, in the winter!!" (However, this time of the year the cow crap is frozen, so our dairy air is not so fragrant!!):D:D

19" here west of Janesville.

I went to work in Madison at 10:30 and left at 1:30. I was lucky to make it home. I pulled one person out of the ditch. It took around 2hrs to get home.

Tony, Oh My! does that bring back fond memories. 1976, I was stationed at Plattsburgh AFB, way up on the Canadian Border. We had an old John Deere with the pto and split brakes. They had a 5 ft blade up front. At the Fire Station, we had to keep the doors and ramp clear. Wearing chains and nose heavy, that Deere did the job. With those split brakes it turned on a dime and gave back a nickel!

Lets see, got up 1 hour early, shoveled off the ramp and behind the garage, left for work the same 1 hour early, made the coffee, opened the doors at 7 just like we are supposed to.
Owner calls at 7:01 and says "weather is bad, go home"
Oh well, good excuse to turn the Buffalo horn I got.

The weirdest thing is I live in northern WI - we didn't get a FLAKE today - it was sunny and pretty nice, mid 20's! Weird storm, snow by you guys, KILLER tornadoes south....

It was 65 degrees here in SE Penn today. Weather's gone nuts. Al Gore should never have invented that hole in the ozone. [:p]

It only got up to about 65 here in Houston today, I actually had to put a flannel shirt on over my t-shirt to go out to the shop this morning.

Looks like I get to fly up to Wisconsin for a one week class at GE's Training center in Oconomowoc first week of march, so I get the best of both worlds. At least the classes I teach for GE we get to do at a facility in Jupiter Florida now. We were having a little trouble with enrollment when we were doing them up north in January for some odd reason. Not a problem now, we usually fill up within 48 hours!

I understand that our home in Madison is buried.
However in Florida we are enjoying warm weather, balmy breezes, and walks on the beach.
I do miss my lathe.

Many, Many years ago we were in Florida during a holiday snow storm in Wis.

We came home, all the roads were plowed, got to our house (built into a hill) and the driveway had blown even with the hill. I got out to walk to the house, planning to get a shovel and make a path for wife and baby, also had 3 year old son.

Eddie, my son, saw ME walking to the house, so he ran to follow. We lost him, for a few moments, under the snow!!!! He was only about 3 feet tall, snow was, apparently, deeper than that!!!

So, be careful when you get home. Don't lose any kids!!!!

Some responses to some of the comments on this thread...

Mudder, the seat DOES get cold, but it warms up after a bit. It's when you get off the seat for a bit and the falling snow melts and then freezes to it that you get a real treat when you climb back on...

jskeen, the picture wasn't taken all that far from Oconomowoc, so when you get up this way if you need to while away an evening let me know...

Ed, and RonScmitt and hazard, I didn't go into work yesterday. Tuesday night the boss said not to do anything stupid to get into work yesterday, so I took the laptop home and attempted to 'telecommute' with limited success. When I got to downtown Racine this morning, I was glad I had stayed home yesterday. The roads coming home tonight were much, much better.

jwoodwrite, (ahem) we try not to use the J.D. word around here... I work for the 'red' company (and the 'blue' company as well - that's why I can get away with owning a Ford).

Mrcook4570, sorry about the pictures of the snow. Come to visit and you can experience the real thing!

We missed it all here in central WI too. Only a couple of flakes. Don't need anymore anyway- running out of places to put it.
Hope you guys have a great time digging out.[}:)]

Tony, where were you when I needed you? They didn't plow my Cul-Du-Sac until 9:00 yesterday morning. Considering that I leave for work at 4:30. I couldn't get through. I ended taking the day off and working in the shop.
