Different finish on Deer Antler

Hello all,

I am wanting to try a finish other than CA on deer antler pens. Anyone have any ideas of what I could use.

Edit: I have been getting a very smooth final cut on the last few blanks I have turned. I was thinking that I could possibly skip the CA and go straight to Micro Mesh for a final finish.

I leave them natural

The only time I use CA is if I turn into the rough center part which I try and not to do. I will sand up to 600 then wet sand with micromesh then wax and buff. I use the Renaissance wax. It is clear and doesn't show up when you get to leave the bark on the antler. I think bark is what it is called when the natural rough edges is left.

I leave them natural also. They can actually be buffed out if your looking for a gloss finish.

I put a few coats of C.A. on the Antler then start micro meshing. I use the C.A. to fill any voids not necessarily to put on as a finish.
