Differences between lacewood and macadamia?

Got a piece of macadamia from a friend a few months back, and a piece of lacewood I bought from WC. It may be just these 2 specific pieces, so consider that, but I would say that the macadamia is more orange-red, while the lacewood is more brownish-red, and the patterning on the macadamia is larger, while the lacewood it tighter. Any of this could be caused by the age, size, and location on the tree of these 2 specific pieces, but I'm throwing them out there in case anyone else has a couple pieces that seem to have the same differences...

Thry are 2 different trees, Mac nut is harder and like was mentioned it is darker in color, more red (some Mac nut is white). Lace wood is not as hard as Mac nut is, Mac nut is a unstable wood and it likes to crack and warp ( not in small pieces like pen blanks).
There is another wood called Silver Oak that has grain like Mac nut and Lace wood but it has a waxy feel to it and a lot of people are alergic (spelling??) to it, I hope this helps a bit, aloha.
