Hey gang,
Here's the story. About a week ago I was in the shop and thought I saw something out the corner of my eye. Just figured I had been up too long and contributed it to insanity. Couple days later, something caught my eye and I quickly turned to see a small mouse rounding the corner into the main garage. Day or two later, opened the door to the shop and he walked off the end of the bench and under. Thats when I found the lumber pencil on the bench with chew marks in it. Thought, well, if you don't get too much more carried away, maybe we can live together. Well, today he had chewed a couple of other things. So I decided to trap him. Took a bucket and put some food in it and a ramp up the side and within an hour, I had him. The family and I took him out into the desert a half mile out and let him go. No, we aren't tree huggers, we just see no reason to kill an Innocent creature who is just trying to survive, sort of like all of us.
So Merry Christmas little mouse, and to all of you too.
Here he is in a 5 gallon bucket,

Good for you Steve!

Even though he might be considered a pest I believe that you did a humanitarian deed and Karma will reward you soon. I believe so much in not killing (except for food) that even though I am deathly allergic to bee stings I will not kill one in the house. I have trapped them in butterfly nets or glass jars and let them go outside.

Very good of you. I am sure that he will be fine out in the fresh open area. He does look as though he is very well fed. Just how much corn was in the bucket in the beginning?

I agree that something good is just around the corner waiting for you as your 'reward.' :D

Reminds me of my dad's "squirrel relocation" project, as he calls it. He hates the buggers because they eat his prized pecans. So he got a trap from the city and takes the trapped ones to a huge field on his way to work.

Reminds me of a few years back when I was cleaning out the greenhouse after the winter. My young son was helping and we found a mouse nest with a resident. My son wanted to release in over the golf course at the end of our road so we put it in a box and released it onto the 14th green. My son got so excited that he tripped up and sat on it. We then had to go home for a spade and bury it beside that green.
