Got to the shop a bit later today and did a couple that I had glued up and ready. I was pleased with the first (the red Big Ben click) but what really tickled me was the Vertex. I had this crummy looking brown box elder blank that was all twisted so I had to "straighten it out which made it smaller and drilling was tough. But I used my new Woodchuck (real nice on wild grain) and, like I said, I'm real pleased. Another Vertex is my "daily user" but htis one just might take over. Sure to get comments.
Finish on both is a high gloss CA. 2 coats of thin, then 6-8 coats of medium, sanded between some coats with 400 when it gets rough. Sanded (wet - with mineral spirits) to 2000, then MM. After that Novus 3 and 2 and a final "buff" of Meguire's (sp?).
Comments welcome, of course.
