Just another post to show its not always sunny:( How about 100 lbs of not so good burl. Thats the chances you take when you buy whole un-cut burl. Man at the price you have to pay for DI burl it tears my heart out when you cut it open and it looks like this.

I know what you mean, Nolan. You can send the slabs and the rest of that worthless junk to me. I may have some ideas for it. Just let me know if you need my address.[}:)];)

I do understand the disappointment, BTW.;)

Nolan,

I know how you feel. Some may think that you are making a killing on those super nice blanks but they don't see these instances...that you buy hundreds of pounds and only get a small fraction of really premium wood.

That said, that piece, though not premium, is not a push over either.

Thats right Dario as you well know. But heh thats the cost of doing business. You know when I get to hand pick my burl like the Rosewood last year I do pretty good, but when you have to do it via photos and such it makes it alot harder especially when its coming from out of the states.

seriously, though...it looks thick, what are dimensions?

7x15x1 5/8 I will be cutting bowl and stopper blanks out of the burl that isnt going to make the pen blank cut.

There is also always a lot of waste involved in cutting burls. I don't think $13.00/blank for those premium DI burl pen blanks is a stretch at all.
