So you think you can make pens??? Well, the 11th hour has arrived.

It's a long thread, so here's the "skinny": Make a cool pen that includes at least 3/4" of a 30caliber shell casing. (30-06, 308)
Post picture of same by midnight Friday.
Put up with the other contestants chiding your work (This is why you waited until July 31 to enter- you don't put up with as much crap!!)

Ed, never in a million years would I ever want to talk "crap" about the other entries. But now that there is booty at stake...............The so called attempt at pen making has my 3 year old shaking his head and wondering who do they think gifted them? No wonder they haven't quit their day jobs!!:smile-big::hammer: Thank you!

Okay I did wait till the end to enter , I was around the 40th or so to enter . mostly because i cant take the chiding and just learning .... so I know its not the greatest ..... but if I dont win ...................
I will still be the IAP 2009 slimline contest winner !

toddlers slacking like that.
They're all like .. waaah .. I want my milk. waaaah I want my mommy.
waaah change my diaper. waaah I don't know how to change a tire.
waaah I'm too small to push the lawn mower. I can't reach the handle.

Uh, Charlie...................its ok. Deeeep breeeaaattthhh. Now, I have found if you pick them up by their soft spot, their attention span increases two fold!

For just a moment, let me be serious. I have no where near the imagination and patience you and several others have shown. I will be happy to promote YOUR contests, but I know I would not enter something on the level you all compete.

I am comfortable making LOTS of very good pens. I will let you guys make GREAT pens.

Now, GO GET EM!!!!

Certainly no argument from me on that score Lou. Anyone that knows me well, knows that I hate guns and why.
When I left South Africa, I sold my guns and it paid for our airfares. Once I handed my licences back to the police, it felt like a great burden had been lifted from my shoulders. I hope I never again find myself in the situation where I feel I need a gun to protect myself from my own countrymen.

Of course, I will never say that we ( or you guys) don't have the 'right' to bear arms. But just because we have the right, it would be nice if we didn't have to use that right. I say that guns are fine for war or sport, but out of place on our streets.


Please don't anyone pile on me. I am in no way condemning (sp?)anything American. Each to his own.:wink::biggrin:
 
I believe we have had this conversation before, but just to be clear. Making cartridge PENS is in no way endorsing carrying arms. I was happy to provide shell casings. I buy them empty and with no primer. They are harmless pieces of brass --- that make NICE looking pens, as you all have seen.

No conflict of interests that I can perceive.
 
If there is anyone near Wisconsin, please would you drop in on Ed and check he is OK? TWO non BS posts in one day!!!!!:eek: He must be sick!!!!:biggrin:

Heck, he even showed a touch of modesty in the first one!!!!!!!

Thank goodness, he's back, for a while there I thought Ed was taken over by aliens.
 
Hey, Where I work I am called Lt. or Boss or Sir, and the Bad Guy's don't have guns.... But I seen one sent "flight for life" because he was stabbed with a Pen. Hum!! are we building weapons of mass destruction with our pens.:confused::confused::rolleyes:

After doing 20 years on the installment plan (8 hours at a time) I get to stand around until something happens then I get to do the paper work. Some times I miss the CO days.
 
I take it you guys are on 12's. Ours just went to 12's. Some like it, some don't. There are two available Lt spots coming up at our prison but I am not sure I want it. I would lose the union and any OT.

I believe it can only be a "weapon of MASS destruction" if the guy was over 400 pounds!!:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

And, bet it was not a casing pen that did the dastardly deed!!:confused::confused:
 
Many firsts

I posted this on the other thread also. This is my first post since my introduction in June. My first 2 cartridge pens and my first photo's of my pens. I figured since I don't have to compete against flying monkeys and pigs I might as well give it a try. Sorry about the poor picture quality. They both are 30-06, one with camo and the other with my first lamination. Camo and antler.
