If I were going to buy a dead centre, what degree am I looking for?????. Seems like the place I am ordering from only carries a 60 deg. Thanks.

Lin.

Yep 60 degree is what you want. and if you are going to use it for turning between centers you want it to be a metal working center also. I am not sure the dead centers are designated at wood or metal but the live centers are. the reason for the harder center is that it will be against metal when you are turning even though it is on a wood lathe. on live centers the mandrel will wear away the tip of the softer woodworking live centers.
