Just a reminder for those who know and a notice for those who don't. The worlds largest pen show is this weekend in northern Virginia. There will be about 2-300 vendors from vintage, to modern and even some IAP members displaying. Mostly fountain pens, but many others as well. If you haven't been to one of these and can make it, I can assure you its a worthwhile trip. I plan to be there Saturday.

Anyone else going??

One of these days I wish I could make it to one of the big pen shows like this. Maybe after I retire or become famous. Whichever comes first, lol. I know the Columbus Pen Show is coming up in a few months.

I will likely visit the show, but the timing is questionable. For the first time in 5 years I will not have a table. My mother is having back surgery on Thursday and I'm her only nearby family support. If anyone wants to call and see if we might meet, PM me for my mobile number.

Pen show

Bruce,
There is a notice on the pen show mailing that there will be a joint meeting of the Washington, Baltimore and Richmond pen clubs at 4pm on Saturday. Do you have any info on this?

I don't know if it's allowed but I'd sure like to see photos from the show if anyone takes some!

For those of you able to go ... Have a Great time!!!

It's a really fun show to attend and anyone who gets a chance would certainly benefit from the experience. Like Lou, we won't be making it this year (but for very different reasons - we have a wedding in the family this weekend). Hopefully things will allow us to attend next year - we have enjoyed setting up the last two years and getting to spend time with our IAP friends. I know both of us will miss quite a few of you that we only get to see once a year at this venue!

Linda

I've never been and, doesn't look as though I will this year either. Kind of like the MPG every year. Something takes priority. Seems I saw a thread which had photos from a pen show, last year or the year before. Would be cool if they could be found in the archives. Anyway, to all who are going, have a good time.

Going to the show on Sat and will bring my sample bag of Schmidt parts (fountain and mechs), if anyone would like to check them out, let me know, or leave word at the Pen Haven booth, Bertrams Inkwell booth, Hirsh Davis' booth, or Alan Shaw- Alan if you don't mind?

Wishing the best for your Mom's op Lou. I hope all goes perfectly!!

One of these years I'm going to visit one of these USA shows. Just as a visitor though.

Show was as good as usual. Got to see some old friends Brian Gray, Alan Shaw, Rich Kleinhenz, Pat Lawson and Brian Goulet and missed some from previous years. Got some nice nibs from Brian, a few sticks of celluloid from American Art Plastics, and some ink from Brian Goulet. Didn't take many closeups but in the picture with Brian Gray and his wife Andrea you will see a Ernest, with Hakumin Urushi Kobo. This young artist is phenomenal. You can check out some of the collaboration on Brian's site - Edison Pen. These will be collectors items for sure.

Over 200 vendors this year with everything from kit pens, to vintage, to modern, to parts, to supplies and more. Definitely a worthwhile visit for any pen enthusiast so if you didn't get a chance this year, make plans for next.
