I like has to specify that I badly speak English, that I thus use tool of translation... I make only very short sentences!!
I am fascinated by materials wood since child, I thus collected ' small pieces of wood ' without making anything.
While buying pieces of exotic wood an Alsatian turner made me discover the turning. (3 years ago)
I would like to thank you, you who pass on(transmit) your knowledge, your experiences(experiments) and who allow beginners to move forward.
I am going to try to get acquainted with the forum, and would show you the one or other one of my realizations. :)

Welcome, do not let the effort of the translater deter you from asking questions or posting your work.

Welcome Daniel, from far west Kentucky, USA, to the addiction, sometimes referred to as the vortex. Be sure to give the library a good bit of time. The link is at the top of the page. You will find an article called Library Index. This covers tutorials on about anything pen making you can think of. You will also notice that there are articles listed by year. Much good info there as well. When these fail to answer your questions, by all means post it here. I have never seen one go unanswered very long. You might also want to give this thread a good look. It has some very good info for the beginning pen turner; http://content.penturners.org/library/general_reference/Getting_started_in_pen_turning.pdf. Grab some wood, make some shavings and have fun all the while being safe.
Have a look at the series of videos ed4copies has just posted showing how to complete a pen from drill to finish.

Welcome from Broomall, Pennsylvania, USA. Do not worry about the language. I believe we all speak "pen". I used to have a vegetable importing business and I sold Belgian Endive (Witloof). My wife and I visited once, but only for a night. Your country is beautiful and we had a wonderful time. We finished a night of beer tasting with a Duvel. Good luck and have fun using the site and turning.
