There was a young Mexican guy at a flea market on 290 west of Houston that did spray can paintings. He used plastic cups, and cans and other things to make the circles and curves.... fascinating guy to watch work... it would take him 3-5 minutes to make a painting about 20 x 30 inches... took longer to dry than to make. Those are pretty cool.

LOL .. I don't need another hobby either.. I was just going to try one.. and then maybe
try another technique.... well .. maybe refine it a little..
8 or 9 tries later, here I am. Did two more since I posted this.
I'm not good on the ground, but I've got the planets and moons down OK.

If I lived at home, I could ask my parents to tape them to the refrigerator..

They still might if you ask them.

imagine my surprise to see a thread title that seems to be attacking me. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!!! THAT CRACKS ME UP. if you want any tips, just let me know. LOL. I don't know what else to say, I'm still just laughing. BTW...they are coming along very nicely. hope you are using the right paper, it makes a big difference.

I'll take any tips I can get!

I've done a few sarches, but they either show the videos too fast, someone
is walking in front, or the angle is such that you can't really tell what they're
spraying.

For someone who tried it only 24 hours ago, I'm not too bad on round things.
I even got one of them to look 3D. Sorta. OK, 2 1/2D maybe. But anything
below the horizon .. I'm lost. I don't want anything that looks like there
should be a unicorn prancing through it .. nothing that you'd see in Spencer
Gifts for instance. One waterfall or shooting star too many and I'd just
lose interest right away.

But it's not like I can really reference anything, either. (I was heartbroken to
learn that Star Trek wasn't filmed on location.) There's not too many
planets close by that I can go take a peek at. Maybe I'll just stick to
space type shots for now, without terra firma in the foreground.

I've already learned that you can't mix oil and water based paints..
and I've also found that flat or satin paints don't do you any favors.
I'm beginning to think parts of it might be easier if I pre-spray some of the
sheets white ahead of time. There's a difference between white paper and
blank paper.

So far I've been using a block of 18x24 sketch type paper, fairly heavy
stock though. Might be a waste if I hadn't paid $.50 at a yard sale..

As for the refrigerator .. you expect my parents to take down the bright
red handprints to make room? Sheesh ..

Oh, I'm just having too much fun with this..

..a few more months and I might get good at this!

Hey Charlie, those are pretty damned cool:biggrin: I think I even spotted my own planet in one of them. Are they airbrushed?

Those Look Fantastic to me. If you run out of room on the refrigerator you can send me a few and I'll put them on mine.

so anyone going to spray paint the stars and moon on a pin ?
nice pictures , also liked the youtube ..... not going to that - not yet anyways

dude, I just looked at your other pics. doesn't look like you need much help. you absolutey have the knack. I will PM you a few of the finer points.

Charlie, those are awesome! We vacationed with our little guys in Playa del Carmen a few years ago, and one night they had a Mercado set up at the resort along the promenade there. They had the best damn tacos, KILLER Monte Cristos (Cuban, REAL), and this guy set up with about 50 spray cans, and paper, and circles cut out. And LIGHTERS! My kids sat there for hours, especially when he did the flamethrower deal. He was so freaking fast I was just blown away. Can't be very healthy the way they do it, he was covered in spray paint, the fumes were thick on a hot summer night, and when he'd light them you gotta figure that's something less than healthy, but it was really cool to watch him.

What's next for you, crocheting? Or glass blowing?

Dale

Paul, I've just watched your video:eek::eek::eek::biggrin: Just brilliant!!!

You obviously knew what you were doing, but I'm sure I'm not the only one that thought ' He's forgotten the paper !!!!! Quick!!!... someone tell him before it's stuck!!!!'

Charlie is opening his gallery at the New England chapter meeting in May. I haven't told him yet as I intend to be his sales agent. Galactic Charlie's 1st annual offering. He tells me these are from photos from past vacations. Should I be suspicious?

I sure am glad I can't stand up very long,, I think my wife would finally say Enough. As it is she only has kept me around for 36 years as a source of cheap amusement just, to see what I'll do next, that does look like it could become addicting.
I've seen a lot of stuff like that done with software, lets see 30 cans of spray paint =60.00 enough software to do that 1500.00 minimum.
Fortunately if I get another hobby, I also will get a new place to sleep, and my Shepherds aren't that particular where they relieve themselves, except when in the house which is where I won't be. It really does look like a lot of fun though,

Ok, Here goes- 1603 995 00ps,
Tell me where I should send my luggage. Now, about my sales commision.

We'll handle your luggage. Just pack a pair of shorts and lots of cash.
Commissions are paid upon successful completion of the trip.

Naah.. Gimp is free. I'm sure there's others out there, too

Yeah.. I had to stop into the shop on the way home to spray one more..
