Been a while since I made one of these and suffered with a high failure rate, but all worth it in the end. One in lucite with epoxy fill and one in maple with polymer clay fill.

Jaw dropping!

I love doing segmented blanks.

Any chance of a tutorial on this style?

Thanks to all for the comments. The blank is not segmented in the classic sense. These blank is turned to a little proud of final diameter, then the lines are carved on a CNC to a depth of about .025" The carved spaces are then filled with colored epoxy or polymer clay. Making the calculations for the lines takes the longest time, but once done can be used repeatedly. Figuring out a segmenting pattern for this would be too taxing for my brain, but theoretically possible. A few years ago, several on this site had a little contest to make a 360 herringbone blank. Perhaps someone could start another for this design. They would have my full support and attention.:)
