Anyone know the difference between the 10k gold fountain pen kit (item no. 050-4408) and the Gold Standard fountain pen kit (item no. 050-4418) is? The description is the same, but the Gold Standard costs more.
Thanks

The gold standard has an extra thick 22k plating that should never wear off. I believe it also has a lifetime guarantee, whereas the 10 version is a fairly thin plating that WILL wear off.

Good call. Fountain pen buyers don't like plating coming off. Not that other pen buyers do, but fountian pen buyers are a different breed.

They actually had a whole line of Gold Standard pens. Went away for a short while, some of us complained and they brought a couple of items back. Unfortunately only one of the 2 that I was buying (Americana & European) so I switched entirely to the 10k.
The Gold Standard did wear very well though and my customers liked it.
Of course they said they replaced it with the Gold Titanium but if memory serves me right they could never get the artisan band right so the titanium Americana and European are only available with the black stripe band.

They were also more expensive than what you are seeing on their close out page.
