I have a cross mechanism that isn't tight enough in the pen. This is for a multifunction tool pen from PSI. The upper part of the pen has an insert that is suppose to grip the mechanism to twist the top part. This particular mechanism isn't crimped down far enough so the crimped area goes past the insert and you can't operate the mechanism. Is there a good technique to lengthen the crimped section of a cross mechanism without damaging function?

I don't have a fix for lengthening it but if it's too loose I use a center punch and make some dimples in the brass, that will tighten it up.
