Last week I asked about multiple searching in Criagslist. There were a lot of helpful posts in response. However, I don't think I asked my original question clearly enough. So... here goes again ....

Is there a way to do multiple searches all at the same time in Craigslist by just entering the search phrase one time? For example, can I search for "Lathe" throughout the whole state of Georgia without having to enter "lathe" in the search option for each of the 6 or so individual cities listed in Craigslist? Or, can I search "Bowl Lathe" in the whole United States Craigslist with just one search? Know what I mean? :D

click the check boxes of the areas you want to search (all of them in the US if you so choose), enter your query item, hit search. It "just works".

Although you may need to tweak settings on your browser a bit. Check the grey box on the top of the page.

I don't know Greg ... sometimes I'm a little (OK, a lot) slow. When I tried the link it lets me check the states and cities but then I still have to enter "lathe" for each individual location. Am I doin' something wrong? [?]

That is the setting it tells you how to do at the top.

if you're using the excellent web developer firefox extension then simply go to the disable menu and "Disable Referrers". if you don't have that extension you can go to the location bar in firefox and type "about:config" and hit return. there will be a window with a bunch of stuff, in the filter field type "sendrefer" this will reduce the big list to network.http.sendRefererHeader. click on that row, and change the 2 to 1 or 0 (1 will send the referrer to a site when you click on a link only, 0 will not send any referrer information -- thanks to brian for the about:config tip!). If you're using Opera you can alter this setting as well. in the location bar in type "opera:config", then type "referrer" in the search box, uncheck the enable referrer setting, and search like a madman! If you're using IE, delete it and use anything else ;)

If you aren't on Firefox, 1) you should be, it is much more secure than Internet Explorer. 2) look in the little box at the top that says "Good news, no more..." and click on the link on the right side that says "learn more". It will tell you how to fix your browser.

Then when you do the search it puts the results of each site you selected in one big scrolling page.

Yep, I'm a FireFox fan. But, who would have thought to read the directions for changing the settings??? Once I get this working it's going to save me tons of time. Thanks for the help!! [:D]

Not me. But the person who originally posted about crazedlist in the last thread pointed out that it needed to be done so I read it. I chose to set it to "1" and it works great.
