I was walking through the local Michaels and noticed some of the decorative beads. I wonder if they could be Center Bands???

I can't see why not 
Next time you're there, buy a few and see what you can do with them - my guess is the trickiest part will be holding them so you can drill out the hole to a dimension that works. I use a micrometer stand (like THIS ONE) to hold odd-shaped things like pen clips while I'm working on them.

I had found some baseball ones but they were (ceramic ?" And I was not able to drill them due to their hardness.
