Corn

Dave,
Just make sure the cob is dry, drill it and turn it using plenty of CA in the process. You need not cast the cob.
Good luck,
Vern

Is it field corn from a farm or "sweet corn" from a grocery store?

If it is sweet corn you need to let it dry down in the house until it loses its flexibility and feels good and dry to the touch - I would let it dry for at least a month. You could microwave it on a very low setting a few times to speed the process.

If field corn, when was it harvested? If it was harvested and shelled more than a couple weeks ago, it should be fine. I imagine it is quite dry in Perth - it should dry down very quickly.
