Because of the size of the project and the money involved it took almost 4 weeks to finally get a signed contract.
I am doing a limited edition fountain pen based on the statesman called the Founding Fathers for the National Constitution Center here in Philadelphia, PA. The pens will be one sale at their museum store starting June 1st. The pen will retail for $650.00. Stylus is running a small article in their June/July issue.
Ken Nelson has been a great help with the engraving of the pen and box. There will be 1,787 pens issued. This is the year to Constitution was signed. Both Ed and Charles have been a great help in supplying the alternative Ivory in such short notice.
This is what the proto-type looked liked
There has been a couple of changes not so-much in the engraving but in support documents. I used acryic paint for the color fill and a clear coat to seal the paint. Then back on the lathe and a final polishing with 4,000 thru 12,000 mm to smooth out the clear coat.
The Pen comes with background history of the founding father, various support documents an engraved presentation box and a bottle of Private Reserve ink.
It's going to be one a crazy summer. I am now working on another project for a different organization which I hope will be complete in the fall.
We also had to copyright the project. The images and background information are public domain but on the advise of my lawyer he wanted the project to be copyrighted. That in itself was an ordeal.
