You've probably heard the story if you visit the casting sub, but I found some rotten wood in my yard and decided to toss it in the vac chamber and turn it in to a pen. This is the result. Well, one of five potential results.

I love the "flying over a planet" feeling it gives. Hence the name and thread title, Continents.

I also like the "looking-down-from-space" appeal !!

Beautiful blank ... well done !!!

Love it!
There was a guy on the forum a while ago who cast blanks like this. I bought a number of them.
I don't recall his name right now but he got in trouble—overcommitted, family issues or something and he disappointed a bunch of good folks. Luckily, I wasn't one who lost out.
Anyway, this reminds me to dig the rest out and see what I can make.

NB: I couldn't resist; had to find this...:
KarlKuehn Earthcast blanks.

Too bad about Karl; they were nice quality blanks.

Thanks, everyone! I have 4 more blanks from the same batch and I hope they all turn out at least close to as well as this one :)

Those Earthcast blanks look pretty cool, too bad about the drama...

I love the look. As it happens, I'm carrying one of my own "earth" cast pens today. I like how the grain looks like topographic features and the small amounts of white look like clouds. I cast both blue and green together with just a few streaks of white.
