I purchased a brand new Dell Inspiron about 3 weeks ago from Best Buy. Last week it started freezing up on me and showing Firefox - not responding at the top of the page and it does not matter if I am on Facebook, Yahoo email or our great forum. I am running Windows 7 and am not that familiar with it. Should I just uninstall Firefox and reinstall? I would rather not try to drive just yet so I was hoping that I could run some programs and fix the problem. Sorry that this is so long. Thank you in advance for your advice that you can offer me. (Except that I should not have bought a Dell)

That would be your best first try uninstall firefox and reinstall it.

Nothing wrong with Dell other than price. When I was working we would order from Dell and we could be sure they met the specs. Now we could open any 2 up that had been purchased on a single order and they would be different inside but they did meet the specs.

I'm having the same problem ever since I upgraded Firefox to the new 3.6 version... I'm also running a Dell - (which by the way I'm not quite so mad at as I was... I finally got the Cessna Aircraft noise shut down... the CPU fan bearing were outrageously noisy... it would actually drown out the TV sitting 5 feet from my desk..)... you might try uninstall and re-install... didn't help my computer when I did that, but I'm running XP and the new 7 is supposedly a much stronger OS...

I was running AVG anti virus, and have uninstall that since it seemed to slow me down to a crawl and locked up my CPU... helped a little, but still get the lock ups.

And in my next life, I won't own a Dell either....:frown::frown:
My wife has a $198 eMachine that works better than my Dell.

Thanks all for the tips. I can shut down the internet when it happens- It stays locked up for 1-3 minutes page turns white then it locks up. I will uninstall the Firefox and try IE for a little bit and see what happens.

If it persists, try converting to a new browser like Google chrome, either that or because you are still under warranty, get it back in to best buy to try and eliminate the problem altogether...
