When I use either Outlook or IE graphics are not showing up in e-mails or on websites. When I use Firefox the graphics are showing up fine. Just started happening when I fired up the computer this evening.

Do any of you computer guru's have any idea what could be causing that?

Thanks for any help.

Keith,

do you see a bar under the email header in Outlook that says, Outlook Express has blocked graphics from the other computer to identify your computer?
Or something similar?
it is a security feature that was introduced in XP service pack 2

not sure if you can edit the permissions

In explorer, try:

tools>Internet Options> Advanced> Scroll down to Multimedia> 'show pictures' checkbox

You can also reset the default settings there.

I'd try that first. You may need to hit the ALT key in order to get to 'tools' if you're running IE7.

That did the trick Skye  Thanks to both you and Rick for the help! I don't know how or why that button got unchecked. As soon as I checked it I got the graphics back in both IE8 and Outlook.

Yet another one of life's great unexplained mysteries :)

Thanks again guys!

Hans, I was using Firefox and loved it. Then it started doing weird stuff. Wouldn't show Google Maps, wouldn't show videos and I couldn't download Adobe Flash. So I downloaded IE8 (beta) and really like it. It has a couple of new features which are cool. I like the way it color codes the tabs and the way it orders them.

I've just downloaded the latest version of Firefox so I'll probably check it out again.

I have been using firefox for a while now and been happy with it. Then yesterday I was trying to copy and paste an address from an e-mail to a word file and it kept shutting word down. I opened my e-mail in IE and it worked fine. Not sure why firefox suddenly had a problem. otherwise I am happy wiht it still.

Hmmm any recent updates to Outlook? Wouldn't it just be microsoftian to make other brands' products not work so you "willingly" move back to their brand.

try pasting it to a text file and see what really comes across.

Oh Greg, back in the early days of 95, I installed 95 on something like 75 systems. And if I installed all the Microsolth stuff first, then anything else (like Word Perfect) it would work fine. BUT, if I installed WP then MS office it would crap out. Things that make you go hmmm.

I would think that your registry was altered in some way for you to suddenly have problems like you are describing. It usually happens when new updates or programming is installed.

Did you install anything lately or allow updates to be made to your system?

Just my 0.1 cents worth. I don't figure to be a genius so I can't use the normal 0.02 cents worth remark ...

I know that some programs update themselved (I HATE THAT!!@)

Firefox just did it to me, and I had unchecked the box for updates.
Once I read up on the recent revisions, I updated, but it went in and
reset those options.

I had to uninstall it and re-install an older version WITH THE MODEM UNPLUGGED!
Sheesh .. why don't they let ME use my own computer?
