Hey IAP, First let me start by saying sorry I havent been around in a while, been crazy busy and injured my back.. Anyway, my mother sent her computer to a local guy to get retored due to a bad virus. We got it back and everything was wiped out including the drivers. It is actually to the point where it wont even recognize the xp disc.

How would I go about getting xp back on there? I know once I do that I can load the drivers through the disc, I just need to know the steps to getting started.. I would send it out for her but I am broke as many of you know.. lol

Please help..

thanks
Brian

Brian; Put the XP disc into the CD drive and re-boot the machine. It should prompt you to install XP. Be sure you do not format the disk drive. The data *MAY* still be on the disk. When working on a machine be careful and don't make the situation worse...

You will need the XP CD and the serial number from the machine. The serial number should be on a shiny tag on the machine.

Who manufactured the machine? Go to their web site and search for the drivers. You should be able to restore everything and reset the machine.

BIOS is not blue. Blue screen of death is what you have. It is caused to prevent serious damage to your computer. First, whoever she took it to needs to fix it. If that won't happen, I would need to know what it says is the cause of the STOP ERROR (name for the blue screen) It could be anything from a hardware failure or a bad driver.

One thing you could try, is to boot into the BIOS, when you turn on the computer it should say something like F12, F2 just depends on the brand of computer. Go into the BIOS and make sure the CD?DVD is listed as the first boot device. Save it and reboot. Then when you boot the computer, put the WinXP CD in the drive bay and it should give you the option to boot off the CD. You will just follow the install steps from there.

Pm me if you need more help
