About 10 years ago I was bored sitting at my mother-in-laws house and she made me go take a class at the Sacramento Woodcraft. I had some interest in wood working and no knowledge in it. I had no desire to turn things on a lathe. Low and behold the only class I had time for was a Cigar Pen class. With in a month I owned a lathe and some turning tools. Over the course of the ten years I have made around a dozen pens and had 2 kids. My oldest daughter is getting into woodworking and my son just likes to be outside so I am getting more shop time. I have been on here now for a couple of weeks soaking up some wisdom and advice. And here is the first of my pens using techniques from turning to finishing to assembly and photographing thanks to everyone here on IAP.

I made it as a gift to a friend that is a shade tree mechanic and a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Welcome Dean, from Sydney Australia.
Congratulations on a well made pen,
Fit and Finish look great.
Very Impressive, hope your mechanic friend doesn't get to it with his wrenches.
Brian.

Thank you all. I have read so many ways to improve my pen making and I can't wait to start implementing them. Thank you to all that contribute to this site.
