I goofed. When taking the wood off the barrel for the comfort grip, I took a bit too much off. Wondering if there is any wiggle room for me to just trim the barrel down. The barrel is about 1.5/32 longer than the comfort grip. I can make it either a pen or pencil if one has more wiggle room than the other. Normally I would just start over, but this is a very rare wood blank (wood from old bleacher seats at Lambeau Field). Figured I'd ask here before finishing and trying to assemble. Thanks!

Don't press the transmission in as far.
IIRC, the transmission is usually pressed in to the indentation. I press mine in close to the mark then test fit the transmission by propelling the refill out. If needed I push the transmission in a little more. I repeat the process if needed until the tip of the refill is where I want it.

Lucas; you can trim the brass tube shorter OR take another comfort band from another kit and add it to the bottom where the brass shows. There is a lot of wiggle room on the pen as Mannie said, not so much on the pencil, but I don't make many of the pencils.

The rubber "Comfort" band can stretch like an accordion some too. You could compress it, apply some glue to the tube, then stretch the comfort band over the glue, then clamp until the glue cures.
