I mentioned last week that I had sent a couple of knives off to Brian to Duracoat. I was interested in trying some of the bright colors he had. I had him do one in Yellow and Red, and the other in Orange and Black. These are my favorite knives, the Kershaw 1660 Leek in stainless steel.

The Orange and Black is our local school colors. The Yellow and Red is just because! The colors look a lot better in person. The orange is a nice bright pumpkin orange, not the pastel orange it looks like in the picture.

The coating did slow the mechanism down a little bit, but they still flick open just fine. I want to thank Brian for working with me on this fun project! He really does a great job!

Scott.

Scott,
Thanks for the kind words.. I enjoyed working on this and actually look forward to doing more knives and maybe some tools... If anyone is interested, please dont hesitate to let me know..

Hi Scott,
Nice work, I like the colors. And that's one of my favorite knives. Looks like I'll have to get ahold of Brian and have a couple of mine painted. Wonder if he has a black krinkle finish?

Im not sure I understand what you mean by krinkle finish? The duracoat is an airbrushed finish and then baked. I could prob. create some type of texture if thats what you mean..

Hey Bob!

It was fun tearing these apart! I know you'd enjoy that part. There is a slight texture to these, it's not straight glossy. I'm sure Brian could enhance that a bit. If I were going to do a black knife, I'd start with one of the black damascus models and not have the blade coated, just have Brian do the handles and the clip.

Isn't it a little chilly in Wyoming right now? ;-)

Scott.

the yellow and red one almost reminds me of a kids toy. They look great though. I have never seen a knife that was as bright. It would be great for a suvival kit knife
