Last April this Collaborative Creative Challenge was announced HERE. Seven teams of three members each were created. For a variety of reasons only two of the original seven teams submitted a pen to this challenge.

There are no prizes to be awarded to the winning team other than bragging rights. Both of these submissions are excellent! Both teams are to be commended for their creativity and cooperation which resulted in two outstanding pens.

Please take a careful look at these entries. Consider, to the extent the pictures will allow:

FORM:
• The pen is visually appealing
• The pen is not overly wide or tapered
• The pen looks comfortable to hold and to write with.

FIT:
• There is smooth, seamless transition between fitted components.

FINISH:
• The finish is consistent and even.
• There are no sanding marks or swirls in the finish.
• No discoloration or spotting evident under magnified examination.

ORIGINALITY:
• Uniqueness of design
• Uniqueness of modifications

FUNCTIONALITY:
• The pen must be a functional writing instrument.
• Smoothness of actions/mechanisms

Voting will begin on February 1, 2014 and end on February 14, 2014. Vote for the pen that you believe deserves to win.

Each member of the winning team will receive $55 worth of Craft Coat courtesy of CrashMPH.
Each member of the Runner-UP team will receive a box of blanks valued at $25 courtesy of Dulf and reddwill

PHOTOS WERE PROVIDED BY THE SUBMITTING TEAM

This is the description that accompanied the pen.

"Enclosed is our submission for the 2014 Bash Collaborative Contest. The Dolphins on the body are cast fro Aluminum and the clip is silver. Both were created by XXXXXXXXXXXX. The dolphins were attached to the tubes and the casting was done by XXXXXXXXX. I had the honors to turn and assemble the pens. Yes pens, we actually did four and picked the best to subit. Each of us will get to keep one of the others."

PHOTOS WERE PROVIDED BY THE SUBMITTING TEAM

This is the description that accompanied the pen.

"Team Scuttlebutt (aka Team 2) has submitted a unique desk set pen for the 2014 Bash CCC. The idea was to create a desk set pen that if one were to look at it, it would not immediately be recognized as a pen. The pen in this case is an interpretation of a 18th century naval cannon sitting on a gun carriage on the deck of a frigate. The outer ring of the base, the gun carriage and the ammunition box are made from walnut while decking material is bass wood planking from a model ship. The cannon is PR and is on a modified Senior Gent kit.

XXXXXXXXXXX poured the PR, made the base, gun carriage, ammunition box and cannon balls and added the fine details as well as took the photographs.
XXXXXXXXXXX turned the front end of the cannon and did the research on the cannon used as an inspiration.
XXXXXXXXXXXX turned the cannon's back end and fitted and modified the pen kit parts.

Through many conference calls, emails and texts, Team Scuttlebutt discussed several options and decided that the desk set pen was the best way to project the ideas that we came up with. We had a blast during this project."

A lot of time and effort went into these beauties. Even though they are actually both winners it is up to you to decide which one comes out on top.

:bananen_smilies051:please take a few moments to cast a vote.:bananen_smilies051:

I don't think everyone realized it was open for voting.

I didn't. I just happened to click on the CC thread yesterday and was surprised to see that it was done. I got a vote in at the last minute.

THERE IS STILL TIME TO VOTE!

This poll will be open awhile longer. Take a few moments and cast a vote for one of these beauties!
