cocoa beans/chocolate pen blank

I just got my hands on some roasted cocoa beans. They are quite large, so I'm gonna' chop 'em up a little.

Has anyone used them before? I was thinking of making a light brown alumilite and putting them in and calling the blanks chocolate chip! What do you think?

Well, made up the pen blanks last night.

Woke up with bumps all over my body this morning. Didn't put 2 and 2 together. Took a shower, went back out, see if the alumilite set, cut it, drilled it, and immediately more bumps appeared and I started itching like crazy.

Something in the cocoa beans does not get along with my skin.

Still, suited up and tried to turn the blanks. Cocoa beans are too big and too soft, nothing like the coffee beans.

Oh well, I tried.
